John Vincent Wilson

October 14, 1948 ~ August 4, 2023

John Vincent Wilson, 74, passed away on August 4, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.

John was born on October 14,1948 in Stamford, Connecticut to John and Mary Wilson.  His childhood was spent playing on Frederick Street and in the St. Mary’s School yard. After graduating Stamford Catholic High School in 1966, he went on to earn a degree in English from Sacred Heart University, and a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of New Haven.

In 1968, while working in the pharmacy at St. Joseph’s Hospital, John met Eileen Steele, who was working as a nurse’s aide. They married in 1971 and celebrated 52 years of marriage in July! Life took them from Connecticut, to New Jersey, California, North Carolina, and most recently, St. Augustine, Florida. John was a loving father of 4 children; Christine, John, Sarah, and Tim. John took enormous pleasure in being a father and watching his children succeed in all aspects of their lives. He never missed a sporting event, school function or awards ceremony and always shared his tremendous pride in their accomplishments. John continued to be his childrens’ biggest cheerleader through adulthood and their professional careers. Simply stated, he was the best husband and dad and dearly loved.

John was a man of deep faith.  He and his wife were founding members of St. Matthew the Apostle Parish in Randolph, NJ where he served as a Eucharistic minister, lecturer, and confirmation leader. He loved to read his bible and discuss philosophy.  John was an avid reader, had an appreciation for the arts and music, loved going for rides in his roadster, and enjoyed a good whiskey.

Throughout his career as a Quality Auditor, John traveled the globe and obtained a million miles on not only one, but two separate airlines.  Often with Eileen by his side, they visited the most desired international destinations as well as quaint little towns throughout the United States. The diversity of experiences in his career helped to satisfy his unquenchable intellectual curiosity. He loved everything about his work, except the mountains of paperwork.

John is survived by his wife Eileen (Steele) Wilson, his four children, their spouses, and nine grandchildren. They include his daughter Christine Nelson (Tim), son John Wilson (Stephanie), daughter Sarah Frederico (Tony), and son Timothy Wilson (Christine) and grandchildren Alex, Sammie, Katie, Jack, Anthony, Timmy, Laney, Luke and Matthew.

A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a future date in September. Family and friends are invited to share memories of John through this site.
