Resided in: Ocala, Florida

John William Shepard, 68, passed away on January 15, 2026+, in Ocala, Florida. He was the beloved son of the late Anita McNealy and John C. Shepard.

John is survived by his sisters, Suzanne Cook and Diana Garcia; his brothers-in-law, Jeffrey Cook and Michael Garcia; his children, John W Shepard Jr. and Rachel Helm; and his former wife of 25 years, Sally Shepard. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Taylor Helm, whom he cherished, as well as many nieces, nephews, and countless friends—who John always treated like family.

John had a deep love for the outdoors, especially the ocean, and found joy in fishing, diving, hunting, and camping. He was a proud member of the NRA and an avid sports fan, best known for his lifelong love-hate relationship with NASCAR and the Miami Dolphins.

A true hands-on craftsman, John worked with his hands his entire life. He had the rare ability to fix or build anything he set his mind to, but he was happiest with a wrench in his hand. His dedication and skill led him to own and operate his own shop for 30 years, a testament to his work ethic and passion.

Above all, John was a loving and caring father and grandfather. He took great pride in his family, always offering guidance, support, and encouragement, and he leaves behind countless treasured memories. He will be remembered for his strong spirit, generous heart, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
