  1. Justin,
thank you for our 10+ years of friendship, thank you for being family to me, thank you for the late night drives to the beach to get ice cream and stare at the ocean and talk about God, thank you for feeding the homeless with me, thank you for the early morning laughs on our way to school, and on our way to skip school, thank you for the weekly visits when I was in another state, thank you for never judging me by what I did or the person I was, thank you for always having an ear I can talk into, thank you for the spontaneous days of showing up to my house and planning the day as it went along, I’m never gonna stop doing that, all because of you, I love you and I’m shattered that i’ll never see you again in human form, but I can’t wait to hug you again and catch you up on everything, but you probably already know because you’re an angel. Forever with you, your heartbroken brother

  2. I recently learned of Justin's death, I'm sorry that I am so late to express my condolences!     Justin's grandma (Jessica) lives across the street from us, and when Justin was perhaps 10-12, we would see him frequently visit his grandma.   The last time we saw Justin, he had just gotten a new car or something, so he was probably around 18-19.   We see Tony (Justin's dad) over there all the time.

We lost our son Colby, at age 22, in June 2024.   When Colby was little (age 3-6), he would hang out with Justin to see what "cool" things an older boy was up to (Justin would've been 10-12).   They didn't interact super-often, maybe 8-10 times… but Fawn and I were always impressed with Justin's patience, sweetness, and kindness towards Colby.  We have a soft spot in our heart for Justin.  We were dismayed to learn of Justin's passing!

Shortly after Colby passed, Fawn had a vivid dream where she saw Colby and Justin, both adults, standing in Jessica's front yard.   Justin was caring for several animals, there were puppies and kittens and rabbits and even bear cubs, all playing together outside.  Colby said his job was to care for the yard and all the plants.    Both boys looked happy, content, stress-free.    We hope that the dream was "real", perhaps a vision of what is to come (or, as Tony says, might be happening right now, only where we can't see it with our eyes).

We stay in touch with Tony now, and do our best to encourage him as he mourns/grieves for his son.    We think of Justin often, and fondly remember the good things (even though small) he brought into our life.
