Karen Stoltz Caraway

March 9, 1943 ~ March 29, 2026

Born in: El Paso County, Texas
Resided in: Gainesville, Florida

We are saddened by the loss of Karen S. Caraway on 29 March 2026. Born in Texas, Karen moved around with her parents in support of her father’s military career, and her family eventually settled in Florida. Karen earned her degree from the University of Florida and started a proud career in banking.

Karen’s involvement with the Gainesville Harmony Show Chorus, which she sang with for many years, brought her joy, fulfillment, and many life-long friends. She carried fond memories of performances and special events singing. However, the pride she felt standing alongside her fellow Sweet Adelines at Naturalization ceremonies stood out above all.

Her love of watching sports was wide-reaching and included a variety of different disciplines from golf, starting at a young age with her dad, to the Olympics and many other professional and college disciplines. For many years, college football held a special place as she accompanied her late husband Chris to a countless number of FSU football games cheering on the ‘Noles, unless of course they were playing UF.

After retiring, she was able to combine her love of reading with a desire to volunteer and give back to the community by working with the Friends of the Library Alachua County. Karen, along with her late husband Chris, was a longtime member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church. She attended regularly until her health declined in recent years.

Karen is survived by her stepsons Michael and Mark, grandchildren Jackson and Julia, and her beloved cat Punkin. She is preceded by her parents Guy and Dorothy Stoltz, her husband Chris and her grandson Ryan.

Karen will be cremated, at her request, with a memorial service to be held at a future date. She will be remembered for her kindness, her humor and her enduring love for her family.

Crevasse’s Simple Cremation has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences, photos and memories may be shared with family and friends at www.crevassesimplecremation.com

Crevasse’s Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Caraway family.

  1. Karen and I worked together in banking for many years. She was fun and creative. I have many great memories of our times together making Christmas goodies while dancing and singing! I am sad to hear this news. Love you my friend.
