Laura (Spridgen) Malizzi, 77, of High Springs, Florida, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her beloved family, after a courageous and prolonged battle with dementia.

Laura Spridgen was born on March 28, 1948, in Leavenworth, Kansas, the daughter of Donald and Patricia Spridgen. On November 11, 1967, she married the love of her life, Daniel Malizzi, with whom she shared many years of happiness.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Patricia; her husband, Daniel; her brother, Vernon Spridgen; and her sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Jim Buono.

She leaves behind five devoted children: Daniel (Yvette) Malizzi of Gretna, Nebraska, Wendy (John) McDermott of High Springs, Florida, John "Jack" (Lisa) Malizzi of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Anthony "Tony" (Kendra) Malizzi of Odessa, Missouri, and James Malizzi of Battle Creek, Michigan.

Seven siblings also survive Laura: Michael (Stacia) Spridgen of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Roger (Holly) Spridgen of Sedalia, Missouri, Karen (Frank) Nordmeyer of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Barbara Bullard of Leesburg, Florida, Tracy (Randy) Pennington of Corpus, Christi, Texas, Joan Spridgen of Vacaville, California, and Ed (Deanna) Spridgen of Leavenworth, Kansas.

A proud grandmother and aunt, Laura is survived by 20 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two more on the way, along with many nieces and nephews who brought immense joy to her life. Laura’s family was her greatest joy; her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on through them. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
