Lynn Elaine Yastrzemski Hersey—known to those who loved her simply as Elaine—went home to her Lord and Savior on November 20th, 2025. Born in Boston, but a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida, Elaine grew up surrounded by her family and the community that shaped her. She earned her bachelors in Business with a focus in accounting from Strayer University in 2015. Elaine worked in accounting for many years before switching to Human Resources, driven by her passion for people. Her journey took her to Virginia in 2012, where she got to enjoy her favorite season, fall, to the fullest. In Virginia she became a cherished member of the Destiny Church family before returning home to Florida earlier this year.
Elaine is survived by her beloved daughter, Jessica; her mother, Lynn; her father, Richard; her sisters, Greta and Christine; her nephews, James and Joseph; and her best friend Kristi. She lit up every room she entered with her radiant smile and touched countless hearts with her kindness, gratitude, and gentle spirit. Elaine’s warmth, faith, and compassion were gifts she shared freely with everyone blessed enough to know her.
She loved the Destiny Church family deeply, holding close the moments of fellowship and faith she experienced there. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Destiny Church for providing a loving and nurturing place where Elaine’s faith flourished.
Honoring her wishes, no funeral service will be held. Elaine asked to be remembered as the bright, vibrant, joyful soul she was—with the best dimples in the world. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the causes close to her heart:

Elaine was the most kind, selfless, strong, and intelligent woman her daughter knew. Jessica is profoundly proud to be her daughter and hopes to carry forward even a fraction of her mother’s grace, strength, and goodness. Elaine has always been—and will forever remain—her hero.
Her light continues in every life she touched, and her memory will be cherished always.
