Michael was born in New Haven, CT on October 10, 1943 and was officially adopted by Margaret and Leonard Lewis in 1952. He was predeceased by his two adopted sisters Carolyn Hurd and Hazel Gordon and birth sister Pat Wilson. He did not find out that he had a birth sister until 2010. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ann Lewis and two children Sean Lewis and Brenda Huth and five grandchildren. He was known as Mike, Mickey, Dad, Pop and Pop-Pop.
His story began growing up in Hamden, CT in a small, country house across from an apple orchard. He quickly learned to love hunting, fishing, outdoor life and ANYTHING to do with cars.
He met the love of his life at an early age at Dunbar United Church youth group, and they would later go on to be married in Dunbar church.
He continued his love for cars, actively building and racing sprite cars and making a lifelong career in the automotive industry. This led to years of management with Audi and Porsche Cars of North America. He followed his career to Florida, where he raised his family in Gainesville.
He grew up playing youth baseball and was a lifelong baseball enthusiast and Red Sox fan. He and Ann, together in retirement, completed a bucket list of visiting all of the 30 major league baseball parks in the US and Canada. Retirement also offered the opportunity to spend lots of time with the family he was so very proud of and loved so much.
We will all dearly miss him, but he will always remain in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Michael to Humane Society of North Central Florida.

So sorry for.your family's loss. Your dad will be missed. Love The Bonfig's
I have many fond memories of our times together at PCNA. Because of his move from service to sales, I was able to move back to FL, for which I will be forever grateful.
I first met Mike in early 1990 when I was transferred to the Southeast Region of Porsche Cars North America. We instantly formed a bond of friendship that stood the test of time due to Mike's calm demeanor, clever wit, impeccable character and incredible knowlege of the automobile business and automotive technology. He was always there to lend solid advice and roll up his sleeves to do the heavy lifting when help was needed. Mike was the Genuine Article.
I received a text message from Mike at 10:03 A.M. this past Saturday that contained some clever commentary about the current state of politics. Political affairs was one of Mike's favorite passions along with Red Sox baseball and his most favorite pastime, spending time with his loving wife of 59 years, Ann.
He left us far too suddenly and I am still having difficulty processing the fact he is gone. May he reside in Peace in the Heaven he so richly deserves.
Mike McMain
God bless you all.
Great memories of Mike, we both raced Spridgets (Midgets & Sprites) and had so many great experiences to share. I regret we lost contact after his retirement, Mike was a caring and genuine gentleman.
Please accept my condolences on your loss.
Mikey – what a guy! Met him in 1980-81 when he was working at the then Porsche+Audi Dealer in Gainesville, FL. Looking to expand his horizons, Mike was easily recruited over to the manufacturer/distributor side and the rest was history… A consummate car guy and great friend, he will be sorely missed. JJ
I met Mike in Spring 1975 when he hired me to work for him at Whitney Ridge Motors, Hamden,CT. Soon he had me working for RMC Racing when not at the gas station. He taught me a lot about cars and how to repair them. He always went out of his way to help others especially his family. He always cherished his wife, Ann.
The interesting family fact is we figured out in the summer 1975 was Ann and I were distant cousins. We were both related to “Aunt Bertha” from Oneonta, NY. Mike was a good friend, boss and mentor!
