Michael M Hickok

June 1, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the peaceful passing of our dear friend Michael Morris Hickok on June 1, 2024, at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Florida. He was born on Nov. 5, 1949, in Rochester, Minnesota, and was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Ellen (Dalman) and Henry (Hank), Hickok, and his brother Dennis. He also had dear friend-brothers who passed before him:  Steve Schad, Jeff Cahill, and Steve Flocks.
Mike graduated from Mayo High School and attended Rochester Community College in Rochester, Minn. Mike had many talents and interests. He worked as a commercial fisherman in the Florida Keys. He was a union carpenter and stained glass artist. He retired from Alachua County Florida as a Telecommunications Technician.
Mike was a true artist at heart and was a beacon of light and courage in all our lives, especially as he faced health challenges in recent years. His sense of humor was a gift that brought joy and lightness in the toughest of times. He had a knack for having the funniest lines that cracked us up. He was a true friend who cherished his friends and memories (especially fishing), made over many years.
There are no immediate plans for a memorial service, so please celebrate his life as he lived it with joy and humor. If you'd like to honor Mike's memory with a donation to Haven Hospice, who couldn't have been more kind, please do.
Mark Procopio and Kate Shuter
