Norman James Mallard, Sr., age 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in Gainesville, Florida, surrounded by his family.
Born on April 19, 1945, in St. Petersburg, Florida, Norman lived a life defined by hard work, humility, and quiet strength. He spent most of his life as a dedicated dairy farmer, whether running farms of his own or managing dairy operations for others, always giving his work his full effort and care. In later years, he owned a hog farm on his property in Gilchrist County.
Norman was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kay Linda Mallard, who passed away peacefully in Gainesville, Florida, in 1991, and by his son Robert James Mallard (“Bobby”), who passed away at birth on December 30, 1971 – a poignant coincidence, passing exactly 54 years to the day after his son.
He is survived by his two sons, Norman James Mallard, Jr. (“Jim”) and his wife, Maria, of Katy, Texas; and Michael Lawrence Mallard and his lifelong partner, Angela, of Fort White, Florida. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael Lawrence Mallard, Jr., Audrena Kay Mallard, Marina Kay Mallard, and Miranda Violet Mallard; step-grandchild, David Mendoza Machado; and seven great-grandchildren.
Above all, Norman will be remembered for his kindness, patience, and unwavering support of his family. He lived simply and honestly, never standing in the way of others’ dreams, but always doing what he could to help those he loved to succeed. His quiet character, independence, and generosity left a lasting impression on family, friends, and all who knew him.
Norman will be cremated and interred beside his wife in Orlando, Florida.
Crevasse’s Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Mallard family.
