Oretha (Rhee) Schatz, age 77 passed following an extended battle with lung deterioration and COPD. She was received in Jesus’ open arms on Saturday, December 10, 2022, with her daughter’s Jennifer, Michelle and grandson Michael by her side. Rhee was a devout sister in Christ however as her health declined she was no longer able to attend weekly services.
Rhee was a native of Sprigg WV and resided in Ohio, California and Florida over the course of her life. At the urging of her children she relocated from Columbus OH to Jacksonville FL to be closer to them and her grandsons. And over the course of the past couple years establish a special bond with her great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walt, parents Harold and Virginia Phillips Sr., nephews Michael Allison and Zackery Phillips. and grandparents John and Allie Williams.
She leaves behind her daughters Michelle (Mark) Thackrah and Jennifer Johnston (Darren Grossen). She was a devoted grandmother/great grandmother cherishing grandsons Michael Thackrah (Joanne Michelle), Timothy Johnston and Zachary Johnston and great granddaughter Harper Thackrah. She is survived by sister Patricia (Mike) Allison and brothers Harold Jr (Cheryl) Phillips, Larry Phillips and Steve (Debbie) Phillips. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and affectionally know as Aunt George.
At Rhee’s request there will be no funeral. Family requests that in lieu of flowers any donations be sent to wounded veterans or research or cure for lung diseases.

This is very hard and we are in shock. You were fine that morning. Still not real Breathe easy and rest in peace. No more pain and suffering. You have got your wings fly high with the angels. You are missed, I keep waiting for you to come around the hallway to get your water or to see Harper. We love you always.
Rhee, is a wonderful soul, she was always encouraging me in life and sending me sweet reminders from her heart. Kind hearted and loving. Sending all my love to her family and especially my Aunties Michelle and Jen and Cousins – Rhee will be missed dearly. But, we know she will be on our spirit, Angel team and rooting us on and guiding us with her light. Blessings to all.

I have tried to find the words but can’t. Every morning and every night I’m sending you my daily txt. Looking later for your reply. It’s not there. I miss you so much and always will. My only comfort is you are no longer in pain and finally you can breathe easy. Until we meet again take care of Mick for me and enjoy your family reunion this Christmas. Love you always 💔
