Osama I. Mikhail

Osama I. Mikhail, 79, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026, after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).

Born in Jerusalem, Osama spent much of his childhood in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon before moving to the United States to pursue his education. He settled in Houston, Texas, where he spent most of his adult life and built a career spanning more than three decades in healthcare administration, strategic planning, and higher education.

Osama held leadership roles with the Sisters of Charity Health Care System and St. Luke’s Health System, taught and mentored students at UTHealth Houston, and later served as Dean of the College of Health Sciences at the University of Texas at El Paso. He was a gifted teacher, trusted advisor, and generous mentor who helped shape the lives and careers of countless students and colleagues. To his family, he was Osama, Dad, and Grandpa. He was wise, funny, endlessly curious, and always there with guidance when it was needed. He enjoyed tennis, shopping (especially for jewelry!), fast cars, good food, and spending time with the people he loved. A lifelong “news junkie,” he always knew what was happening in the world and was ready to discuss it. He was also a devoted potato chip and french fry connoisseur, a distinction his family remembers with particular affection.

Osama is survived by his wife, Frances “Lee” Revere; his daughters, Jenny Mikhail and Becky Colbert; his stepchildren, Jake, Luke, Annie, and Isabell Revere; and his grandchildren, Clark and Kaitlyn.

He will be remembered for his remarkable intellect and wisdom, his generosity, his dedication to teaching and mentorship, and above all, his love for his family. His influence lives on through the many people whose lives are different because they knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions to a scholarship fund established in Osama’s name at the University of Texas at El Paso. Those interested in contributing may contact a member of the family for additional information.
