Patricia Joyce McCurdy

Pat (Schmitt) McCurdy, 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Jacksonville, Florida on August 30th, 2024.
Born Patricia Joyce Shanks on September 29th 1936 to Mary and Joe Shanks, and raised in Cedar Town, Georgia. She dedicated her life to the service of others as a nurse at the VA Hospitals in Memphis, Tennessee and on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Her 35 year career was the embodiment of hard work and genuine kindness while caring for others. Pat enjoyed good food especially sweets, spending time with her family, and visiting the casinos on the Gulf Coast.
Pat is survived by her children; Robyn (Larry) Blavos and Patricia (Mike) Kelly, seven grandchildren; Tiffany Cuevas, August “Scooter” Schmitt IV, Daniel Blavos, Rachel (Blair) Harrison, John “Mikey” Kelly Jr., Amber (Caleb) Bowen, Johnny (Kandise) Kelly, and nine great-grandchildren.
Pat is preceded in death by her mother, Mary P Shanks, former husband August Schmitt Jr, beloved husband John L McCurdy, and son August “Bo” Schmitt III.
