Peter Bodo

November 6, 1935 ~ December 23, 2025

Born in: Szamosszeg, Hungary
Resided in: Jacksonville, Florida

Peter Bodo, 90, of Jacksonville, Florida (and formerly of Somerset, NJ), passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

As a young Hungarian teen, Peter came to this country in 1948 and became THE proudest American, learning English right away and working hard to support his family with two bicycle routes, stocking merchandise at local grocers, and eventually cultivating successful careers at Swift and Hebrew National. He climbed the ranks as a top industry sales leader, gaining respect from colleagues regionally and nationally.

Pete’s shining moments of strength were on the tennis courts, where he was a formidable partner and opponent, winning many tournaments.

Peter loved to travel and twice returned to his native village outside Budapest. He had a passion for old movies, Elvis and the great Frank Sinatra. Pete also loved football, the ocean, the beautiful, lush countryside of Ireland, and life alongside his wife.

He was a loving husband to Lynn Dey Bodo of Somerset, NJ (and now Jacksonville, Florida) for 62 years, and proud father of their three daughters, Dani Deyton (Jeff) of Jacksonville, FL, Beth Bodo of Los Angeles, CA, and McCall Doyle (Brian) of Broad Run, Virginia. Younger siblings were the late Tony Bodo (and late Kathy), Alex Bodo (Janet), both of Florida,  and a beloved younger sister, Helen Bodo Gall (Michael) of Franklin Park, NJ.
Peter loved his grandchildren Amy and the late Leigh Ann, and his great-grandchildren, Kalena, Willow and Liam. Pete also cherished his sweet dog, Poppy.

His charismatic presence will be missed by many. A memorial will take place at a later date in the spring.

Crevasse’s Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Bodo family.
