Priscilla Harris Williams

December 5, 1947 ~ August 12, 2024

Mrs. Priscilla H. Williams, daughter of the late Will and Jessie Mae Harris, was born December 5, 1947 in Perry, Florida. Priscilla attended the public schools of Levy County, Florida. In 1965, she went on to attend Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in Tallahassee, Florida as a charter member of the renowned Upward Bound program and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. She later attended the University of South Florida in Tampa where she earned a Master’s Degree in Library Science and gained her tenure as a Librarian at the University of Florida’s Smathers Libraries until she retired in 2014.

At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized in a “local pond” as she noted was common at the time. She later joined Nolan Missionary Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member. At Nolan, she served faithfully as an honorary Mother of the Church due to be officially installed on September 29, 2024.

Priscilla was an active member of the Red Hats of Levy County and enjoyed regular lunch dates with her retirement friends. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the creations she quilted and loved so well. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She peacefully departed this life Monday, August 12, 2024 surrounded by her loving family and pastor. She was preceded in death by her sisters Annie J. Williams and Ellar Wease Williams, and her brothers, Lonnie Harris and Will G. Harris.

Priscilla was united in holy matrimony to James Williams, Jr. on June 12, 1970. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her husband of 54 years, James Williams, Jr.; Children: James (Angela) Williams III of Wasilla, Alaska, Ronnie (Mary) L. 11. To The Williams Family,

I wil miss Priscilla so much. I will always hold the precious memories in my heart for her during the time we worked together at UF. Priscilla was a very nice friend of mine. James, Jaime, Ronnie, Aimee and all the grands, you all are in my prayers. I will always remember Priscilla.

  12. The sweetest person you could ever know.  May peace and comfort be with my Uncle James and family, love you all.

  13. Condolences to Priscilla's husband James, her children and extended family. I worked with Priscilla for many years at the library at UF. She was not only a coworker to me but so much more. For about a span of two years back in the mid-1990s we commuted together to USF in Tampa for classes to complete master’s degrees in library science. Those four hours in the car there and back provided time for many interesting discussions and experiences. Indeed, she was like my 2nd mom at work. A very special person to me. I'm trying to hold back the tears as I write this knowing that all troubles are done for her now, but I can't.
