  1. For 20 years I had the honor of playing trumpet next to Ray in the Gainesville Community Band and the Santa Fe Brass. Ray was dedicated to and loved the music and our craft and had an encyclopedic knowledge of arrangements and dynamics. He knew many composers/arrangers, many personally in South Florida and elsewhere. Ray probably played 700 concerts, beginning at UF and later in West Palm Beach and again in Gainesville. He was a leader/role model and his knowledge of the music inspired those he played with. Our section will dearly miss Ray. May our Lord and Savior bring peace to the family during this stressful period.

  2. Jeanie, please forgive me for not contact you and Ray for so long. Ray and I went back to 7th grade, as you must know. If you need any help, please contact me at guyh7801@comcast.net. His death hurts, as all my early and later friend are all passed away. Please contact me!

  3. Dearest Jeannie and Family–
It is with my deepest sympathy that I learn of Ray's passing.
We shared a friendship and the love of music ever since playing in the Palm Beach Wildcat Marching Band.
He was a gentle man and always a gentleman. His passing leaves a very large void in many lives. He will always be remembered and honored for his part in starting the Symphonic Band of the Palm Beaches in 1961. This fine musical concert band continues to honor his memory as they continue to entertain large audiences in the West Palm Beach area.
It was Ray who encouraged me to join the Symphonic Band in 1981 after a 25 year hiatus of not playing. Ray's encouragement led me to purchase my bassoon and I continue to thank him every day. I play in two concert bands here in Sebring and also in the church wind ensemble. Such joy Ray has brought into my life and the lives of so many others. He truly will be missed but will remain in the hearts of every person that has known and loved him.
May God grant you and the family peace and acceptance in this difficult time.

  4. Rudy always spoke fondly of Ray and he was a great friend and huge support to the Symphonic Band of the Palm Beaches – he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
