Rebecca Mae Adame

February 23, 1957 ~ April 20, 2023

Rebecca (Becky) Mae Adame was received into the comforting arms of Jesus after a fearless 7-year battle with breast cancer on April 20, 2023, in Jacksonville, Florida. Becky was born on February 23, 1957, in Ashtabula, Ohio. She was the first Herman (Herrmann) girl to be born into the family for three generations.

Becky graduated from Jefferson High School in 1975 and for 50 years lived on the same corner of land (but different houses) that her grandparents originally farmed in Jefferson. Becky was proud to serve others for 24 years through her Christian bookstore, The Sonshine Corner, in Jefferson, Ohio. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge regarding books, Vacation Bible School, and Christian music. She had a weekly Christian contemporary radio program at the local Christian radio station, WCVJ, in Lenox, Ohio, for several years. She was a beautiful pianist and loved playing piano for many weddings, funerals and other events around Ashtabula County. She was a dedicated piano instructor and enjoyed sharing her love of music with others through teaching music and putting on children’s musicals at church. But her biggest passion was for playing the piano and singing alongside her husband in worship at church. She was a talented chef, with exceptional culinary skills due to her attention to the smallest of details. She loved shopping in thrift stores and always appreciated a “great deal” when she found a bargain. And she enjoyed any sport or activity her children/grandchildren were participating in and was constantly a positive cheerleader on the sidelines.

Becky is survived by her devoted husband of almost 44 years, Anthony (Tony) Adame of Jacksonville, Florida, son Michael (Erin) Adame, of Jefferson, Ohio, daughter Andrea (Chad) Kane of Jacksonville, Florida, and brother Ron (Debbie) Herman of Deland, Florida. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren: Ezra Adame, Everett Adame, Finley Adame, Violet Adame, William Kane, Benjamin Kane, and Elisabeth Kane.

She was proceeded in death by her father Neil John Herman, mother Ella Mae (Hedrick) Herman, and a brother Roger John Herman.

Becky’s family wishes to thank the many people who reached out to her with their prayers and encouragement over the years, especially the ladies of Bethel Bible Church who called her each day and shared scripture and encouragement during her hospice journey. Also, Dr. Alvero Moreno Aspitia and the many people who assisted Becky at the Mayo Clinic of Jacksonville, and all the wonderful people of Community Hospice of Jacksonville, who attended to her in her final days. And a special thank you to her co-grandmother by marriage, nurse Susan Kane, who assisted Becky day or night, throughout her entire cancer journey. Becky’s legacy will be remembered in the way she loved her God each and every day, and the way she adored her husband, children, and grandchildren. Becky was fearless because she knew her future. And she was looking forward to seeing Jesus and being reunited once again with her family and friends who went on to glory before her. Praise be to God!

Service will be held by the family, please contact them for details.

Contributions can be made in Becky’s memory to either Bethel Bible Church (877 E. Beech St., Jefferson, Ohio, 44047) or First Baptist Church (85 West Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio 44047)
