Reuben "Bill" William Starks

January 30, 1940 ~ April 1, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Reuben (Bill) William Starks, who left this world on April 1, 2025, at the age of 85. Reuben was born on January 30, 1940, in Canton, Minnesota, to Wesley and Carrie Starks.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Reuben served honorably for 26 years. He rose to the rank of Sr. Chief Petty Officer and worked most of his career as an Aviation Structural Mechanic. Reuben's commitment to serving his country was exemplified by his dedication to duty, discipline, and the values of integrity, courage, and respect. He retired from the Navy in 1984.

Bill was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, whose work ethic, humor, and dedication to his family left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was predeceased by his dear wife, Helen Starks, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. Together, they forged a life filled with cherished memories and family and supported each other through every season of life. Helen's passing in 2020 left a deep void in his life, but he was fortunate enough to find love again with his surviving wife, Elaine, whom he married in 2021. Together, they forged a beautiful bond filled with love and companionship. Their shared journey was one that brought joy and fulfillment to his later years, and he was grateful for the love they found in each other.

Bill’s legacy includes his children: Linda Williams, Patrick Starks (Mary), Cindy Edgar (Jim) and James Czaja.  In 1964 he was predeceased by his infant son William Perry Starks, whom he carried in his heart always. He also leaves behind many grandchildren - Stefanie, Kevin, Logan, Shawn, Patrick, Wesley (deceased), Amy and Andrew, along with great grandchildren Vivian (deceased), Isla, Meave and Juniper; his sister Myrtle (remaining sibling), nieces, nephews, and his church family and friends, all who will miss his kind heart and generous spirit.

Please contact the family for details on the upcoming memorial service and interment they are holding for him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church where he was a member for many years.

Reuben will be remembered for his faith in God, strength, love, and unwavering commitment to his family. He may no longer walk among us, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.  Rest in peace Reuben (Dad, Pa Bill), you will be forever loved and never forgotten.
