Richard Hayworth

February 17, 2025

Richard Hayworth left this world peacefully on February 17th, 2025 at the age of 73, after a three year fight against cancer. Rick, Ricky, Superman, was a loved and key part of the lives of friends and family, giving of himself at every turn. He was born on December 27th, 1951, in Kewanee, Illinois where he grew up. He spent his life enamored with building and fixing motors of all sizes, and was known to lift an entire engine out of a car with his bare hands and pure determination to get the job done. He used his skills while working for E-One in Ocala, Florida, and was able to travel the world teaching fire engine operation. He became family to the late Alice and daughter Kristina enjoying his retirement in Gainesville Florida, at Castelwood Acres feeding treats to horses, doggos who did indeed get to come in the house, and an abundance of wildlife. He loved riding Harleys and singing his favorite Karaoke songs to family, friends, strangers, and his African Grey Parrot Stormy. Rick is survived by his beloved companion Doris, his hazel eyed girl, for whom he rightfully edited Van Morrison’s iconic song. His life will be celebrated in late April at the farm, with good food and song, regardless of anyone’s singing skill. From Illinois to Florida he is so dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Florence, his brother Barry and his sisters Brenda and Christy. He is survived by his children, Richard Jr., Derek, and Kendra, brother Brian and sister Julie, as well as many grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was not afraid to go on to heaven, joining those who went before him, but he fought hard to stay with us all as long as he could.

In lieu of flowers, sing your favorite song out loud, get outside in the yard, go for a ride, finish that project, travel somewhere fun, and keep him in your heart always, as his heart was big enough to keep us all inside.

Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Hayworth family.

  1. What can I say about this beautiful man inside and out.
We met on a dating site. He had put a picture up, with a young girl by his side. I didn’t think that was appropriate. So every time his picture popped up. I would turn the page. But! His picture kept popping up constantly. So I thought maybe someone was putting this man in my path for a reason. That next Sunday I went to Church. And sat right up front. As I sat there by myself. I ask God, To put a kind man in my life. Someone that would love me. And I could love him. I was lonely, I had been widowed for many years.
Well, it wasn’t but a week later. This man with this young girl popped up again. So I decided to write him. And all I said was ( Hi, Blue eyes)
And about two hours later. This man text me. And he said (Hi Cutie). I said Hi back, and ask who the girl in the photo was. He said Oh! That’s my sister….lol. And it was his younger sister.
So, we talked for a couple of weeks on the phone. Then he wanted to come down here to Dunnellon which is about an hour ride. And take me to dinner. I agreed.
I got to the restaurant early, I wanted to be seated when he came in. As he walked though that door. He was so darn handsome and strong looking. He took my breath away.
We enjoyed dinner together that night. And we continued to see each other for the next eight years. He was and still is my everything. He truly loved me and I him.  Until we meet again. Your hazel eyed girl.
