Rickie Eugene Hawkins Sr. was born to devoted parents who preceded him in death, Elder Willie James Hawkins Jr. and Barbara Ann Akins. Rickie accepted the Lord as his Savior at an early age with the New Shady Grove Baptist where he served as a member of the O.M. Hawkins Gospel Choir in his youth years.
Rickie was a graduate of Vanguard High School Class of 1978, and he was a retired veteran of the United States Army.
After faithfully serving his country, he retired and then “Married” Lockheed Martin as a dedicated employee where he took pride in his job, serving for 40 years as a production control coordinator for transportation shipping and receiving. He retired on August 31, 2022.
Rickie was a man who loved the Lord, his family, and he was a great provider.
Rickie was a member of the Black Farmer Association. He loved people, plants, and animals. His favorite hobby was fishing.
Rickie is survived by his wife and life companion, Jo Ann Harkins of Ocklawaha, FL; He is the Father of Barbara Ann Hawkins, Shaquanna Hawkins-Smiley of Tampa, FL, Marquita Hawkins of Belleview, FL, Rickisha Hawkins of Ocala, FL, Travis Weller (Lindsey) of Summerfield, FL, Rickie Hawkins Jr. of Belleview, FL, Trina Mosley (Thomas), of Ocala, FL, Shaquita Johnson (Curtis) of Cookeville, TN, Shamekia Mills of Belleview, FL, Danielle Kendrick of Ocala, FL, and Marcie Hare of Ocklawaha, FL.; also he is the Grandfather of 30 grandchildren.
He is the Brother of Brenda Bell (Curtis) of Ocala, FL, Bernard Bostick of Ft Myers, FL, Willie Mae Hawkins of Ocala, FL, Chaplain Leaneze Hawkins – Dozier (Alvin) of Ocala, FL, Virgil Robinson (Angela) of Ocala, FL, Darrell Robinson of Ames, IA, Annie Lee Brooks of Pine Hills, FL, Emma Jean Hawkins of Ocala, FL, Mary Ann Kilpatrick of Riveria Beach, FL, Cheryl Hawkins of Ocala, FL, and Curtis Hawkins of Orlando, FL.
He is the nephew of Rosa Oliver of Immokalee, FL, and Westly Akins (Mertha) of Ocoee, FL.
