Ricky Eugene Brenner, age 75, of St. Augustine, Florida, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the Bailey Family Center for Caring after a long illness.
Rick was born on July 10, 1950, in Findlay, Ohio. From a young age, he developed a love for cooking, working alongside his mother in various restaurants. That early passion for food would become a thread throughout his life. Friends and family fondly remember him at the stove, preparing dinner with love nearly every night.
Rick began his career as a long-haul trucker in Ohio, drawn to the open road and big rigs. Later, his heart led him back to the food industry, where he served as a manager in several restaurants across Ohio and Florida. Eventually, he found a new calling with KEHE Distributors, working locally in health food distribution until health concerns led to his retirement.
Among Rick’s greatest joys was volunteering for SAFE Pet Rescue, where he served as a dedicated foster parent, helping over 60 dogs find loving forever homes—several of which became his own cherished pets.
Rick had a deep love of travel, both in the U.S. and abroad, making countless treasured memories with his family along the way.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Cindy Brenner; his daughter, Kimberly Nieder; his stepdaughters, Rachel Hardee (Mike) and Stacy Garza; and six grandchildren, all of whom reside in St. Augustine and brought joy and pride to his later years.
Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Olive Ferguson; sisters, Nancy Althous and Ginny Sims; and his niece, Carrie Starr.
Crevasse’s Simple Cremations is handling arrangements. A celebration of Rick’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Rick’s memory to SAFE Pet Rescue, Community Hospice, or a charity close to your heart.
