Robert Leonard Ledbetter was born in Boston, Massachusetts October 1, 1953 to Jack V. Ledbetter and Mary Valentina (Salivitti) Ledbetter.
Robert went to school in Stoneham, MA and was on the Junior High and High School track teams. He loved building models, woodworking, fishing, radio control aircraft, electronics and NASCAR. He joined the Navy in 1972 and was aboard the USS Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier working in the weather division during the Vietnam War. He had a break in service and joined the Air Force Reserves and engaged in an active Reserve test program at Grissom AFB, IN until the program was discontinued and he rejoined the Navy. He was a skilled aviation technician and electronic technician working on KC135 aircraft, H2 and H3 helicopters. He worked on search and rescue teams during Desert Storm. Toward the end of his career he did micro-miniature repair of electronics. He loved New England, seafood, apple picking and a nice snow fall. He enjoyed cooking and was always finding and sharing recipes. He passed away at home October 20, 2025.
He is survived by his precious dog Kira, wife Dianne, daughters Corrien Ledbetter, Sarah Ledbetter, Erin Comesana (spouse Diego), grandsons Justin Comesana, Andrew Comesana, brother Anthony Ledbetter, nephews Jimmy, Joshua, Jason and niece Tina.






What a unique fellow. We enjoyed learning and have gratitude for the amazing service for our country for so many years. Our memory comes much later in life, when we were all much more mellow. Rob’s love for his dogs and Dianne was his passion. Until that great DAY!!!!!!
