Ronald Cameron Marr

October 30, 2021

On October 30th, our dear friend, brother, uncle, Ronald Cameron Marr, peacefully left this
mortal realm after a long battle with cancer. However, to hear him speak of it, it was not a
battle he was fighting. With unwavering courage and conviction, he rode the waves of this
disease and dealt with whatever journey his path took him on. His positive uplifting attitude,
sarcastic wit and never-ending stories endeared him to many. Ronald had a talent and
personality to make friends no matter what the situation. A man of true integrity, a self-less
man whose passing has left a hole that only he can fill.
Ronald was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland and received a law degree from the University
of Glasgow. While living in Edinburgh, Scotland he studied Teacher Training which qualified him
as a teacher, and he taught Modern Studies in a little town called Barrhead just outside of
Glasgow. He then moved to the states and pursued many different avenues, but his heart and
passion were creating the most exquisite feather masks. As an artist he did what most artists do
put his heart and soul into his art.
Ronald left behind a sister, Janice Slorance (Gordon), nephews, Mark Slorance, Neil Slorance
and Ian Slorance, all who reside in Scotland. In the states there are many who called him friend,
God father, uncle, we were fortunate enough to have a place in his life and to spend quality
moments with him. He will not be forgotten!!!

  1. Since you left your mortal body and allowed your soul to soar free…those who you left behind mourn the you we knew… for me every time I see something or something happens I want to share with you I go to pick up the phone and you are not there to call… I know you will always be here for me and I find some comfort in that knowledge but you are missed in so many ways and that I will never get over… I love you my friend and my heart is broken at your passing…

  2. A wonderful unique person, indomitable spirit & a very dear friend. So many memories over so many years. Now there is only void where he was. Wherever he is, he'll be turning heads. Way to go Ronnie.

  3. My memories of Ron are gentle, heart warming, and forever in my heart.
Knowing he's in peace now is comforting.

  4. I am so glad that I was able to connect with Ron not long before I got the sad news. I was going through my phone contacts and saw his name and called him. We had a wonderful conversation, catching up after so many years. Our annual Halloween event in the Oaks Mall from 1981 through 1990 – Ron's spectacular feather masks were always the highlight of our display. He was so delightful to work with and people loved him and his wonderful creations. I am so fortunate to have been able to work with him through those years. I love you Ron.

(In Loving Memory of two of my Dear Friends
Whose Memory will be celebrated this weekend.

    ❤ ❤
    Morning Meditation
    On the porch . . .
    Same scene,
    Different Day . . .
    No!
    Different scene!
    The breeze is stronger
    Than yesterday!
    Hundreds!
    Yes, Hundreds
    Of birds
    (Whose Man-given Names
    I don’t know)
    Fly in patterns
    Only they know . . .
    A Flash Mob
    Of winged creatures
    Putting on a show
    For my entertainment!
    They sing in chorus –
    A composition
    Arranged by the Creator
    Accented by the Caws
    Of a solitary Crow
    (Whose name I do know)
The Breeze shakes the Trees . . .
    A multitude of leaves
    Rain down,
    Fluttering to the ground
    Blending with the birds,
    Now quiet,
    Watching from above
    Waiting . . .
    The Grand Finale
    A Butterfly Dance!
    Monarchs
    Take the Stage . . .
    Two of them
    Dance a graceful
    Pas de deux . . .
    The performance has ended.
    All is quiet.
    I step through the door
    To the orchestra pit
    To capture the Encore . . .
    But every one has flown
    To the next Gig.
And the Wind sweeps the stage
In preparation for the next show.

  6. I was very close with Ron for many years. I moved and we kept in touch but it is not the same when you do not see each other all the time. I have so many memories of our times together. Fortunately Ron has gifted me some feather mask and other object of his art that I will cherish.

  7. miss you so much my friend,,, not a day goes by that you are not thought about,,, love and light and peace be with you…
