Salvatore "Charlie" Minardi

December 18, 1928 ~ December 4, 2022

On December 4th, 2022, Salvatore “Charlie” Minardi peacefully passed on from this world into new life. In his final days he was surrounded by family and has gone on to be with the love of his life, wife Nancy, son Joseph, daughter Julie and son-in-law Danny. Beloved by many, Charlie was known for his quick wit, infectious laugh, caring heart, and fanatical love of the Florida Gators. In his own words he lived a “fun life” and had the best wife and children. A loving father and friend to many, Charlie became a role model as a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and great grandfather. He was an icon and mentor to many young men and women. He was also celebrated as the favorite uncle for all the cousins on both sides of the family.  He is survived by his sons Dean, David (Kathy), and Stephen (Donna); his grandchildren, Galen (Kara), Jessica (Quentinlee), Zetta (Nick), Zachary (Leah), Rebecca (Chris), Kristen, Alex and Stephen; and his great grandchildren, Weston, Everly, Noah, Luca, Kali and Jayci.

Charlie was born in Chicago in 1928 but grew up in Tampa, FL. He was the middle child of Dr. Joseph Minardi and Lil Ferlita Minardi. Charlie was proud of his Italian heritage and how his family was closely integrated into the fabric of Tampa. He was a graduate of both Jesuit High School and the University of Florida where he earned a bachelor’s degree in building construction which launched a career he carried on until he was 82. Known as one of the top commercial general contractors in Tampa, Charlie had his fingerprints throughout the Tampa landscape. A few of his favorites, of the many Tampa building projects he managed, include the St. Anthony Chapel at Jesuit High School, the Tampa Dog Track, Gulf Harbor Condominiums, One Memorial Center, and the Marriot Westshore.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Jesuit High School of Tampa in memory of Charles and Joseph Minardi.

Guestbook

  1. Obviously, Uncle Charlie built many fine buildings. But for me, more importantly, he built lifelong quality relationships with family and friends, filled with love and fun.  So many good times. So many wonderful memories. I was so very fortunate to have him in my life.

  2. Charlie is my first cousin and I remember he always had a quick wit, a generous smile and a loving demeanor about him. I have fond memories of Charlie, Russell, Bebe, aunt Lilly and uncle Joe. I miss them all. With loving memories,  Richard C. Minardi
