Sandy D. Thompson, 63, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Haven E.T. York Hospice Care Center. To many he was known as “Sandman”. He was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida. He lived a simple life and took pleasure in spending time with family and friends. Among many things he loved was racing motorcycles (when he was young) and deer hunting, but he loved his family the most!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carol and Patrick Thompson.
He leaves behind his wife, Terry, daughters Treena Miles, Teesa Matson, son Kevin Farrant, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren as well as his brother Ronnie and his nephews, Ronnie, Patrick, David, and TJ.

Sandman taught me a whole lot about the Sheet Metal trade.. I ran dogs with him a few times in Dixie County. That ole country boy will always have a place in my heart. if the Lord has deer dog hunting in heaven, he’s sitting on his box right now with his 3006.
