Sara Mannix, 73, passed away on March 20th, 2026.
Sara was born in Allegan, Michigan on October 10th, 1953 to Dr. Ernest and Juliann Ross. The family moved from Allegan to Venice, Florida in the 60’s. Sara graduated from Madison Community College. She also became a licensed practical nurse and worked several years at Gainesville VAMC and did some private duty nursing.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Patrick, son Travis, sister Susan Stageman and nephew Eric Stageman; as well as her stepbrother Dr. Tim Wheat. She also had great love for her late stepfather, Jim Ross. She had fond memories of her cousins in the Allegan area.
Sara was a Gator fan who closely followed the girls’ softball team. Next to family and friends, she loved spending time bicycling, kayaking, swimming in the springs, and at home in her pool. For many years, she could be found at the dog park on Archer Road with her dog Skye and other dog lovers.

Frequently hilarious, with liberal doses of kindness, empathy, and compassion, packaged in a free spirit. To me, that was Sara.
She dove into life with verve, her optimism and goodness enriching the lives of family, friends and countless members of the animal kingdom.
Sara, thanks for all the great conversations and dear, sweet memories.
May you dance in the light. Hopefully, accompanied by some Tom Petty riffs.
Love, Cathy
