Se’epa “Epa” Hawaii Uila McCord went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 18, 2021 surrounded by her family and many friends.She was 33. Se’epa is preceded in death by her father, Afemai Sau Uila and her infant son, Mark Prue McCord. She is survived by her loving husband of 13 years, Christopher Ryan McCord, and her four children, Leilani Kira, Teresa Rita, Kaikoa Christopher, and Kaleo Mark McCord (Alachua, FL). She is also survived by her mother, Susana Brown (American Samoa), her brothers and sisters, Jake (Fa’asagaone) Malosi (American Samoa), Lisa (Valentine) Riviera Medeiras (Hawaii), Fiti (Jholena) Uila (Hawaii), Afemai Sau (Jasmine) Uila, “Jr.” (Washington) , June (Bernard) Malosi (American Samoa), Siolame (Feagaiga) Uila( American Samoa), Naomi Uila (Hawaii), Ruta (Matthew) Hert (Tacoma, WA), and Kolani (Carina) Uila (Hawaii); and by her mother-in-law, Teresa Benton, and sister-in-law, Jessica (Sidney Jenkins) McCord (Gainesville, FL), and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.Epa was born in Faga’alu, American Samoa. Her family is from Vatia, a village on the island of Tutuila. She grew up in beautiful American Samoa and also lived in Hawai’I for a brief period of time. She loved her family and Samoan heritage. She had a great appreciation for the beauty and culture of American Samoa and Hawaii. She could speak four languages: Samoan, Hawaiian, Tongan, and English.Epa enjoyed music and dancing. She was a member of the Gainesville Hula Ohana group. She loved performing with her “sisters” at many local art festivals and events for the past five years. She also played the ukulele. Epa was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, Gainesville, Florida.Most of all, Epa loved her husband and children. She loved spending time with them. Her photographs captured everyday moments as well as special events. She has left us a treasure trove of memories in her photographs. Epa was a special person, wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, co-worker, and friend. She was truly a gift to her family and friends. We miss her so much.
