Stanley "Mitchell" Holtsinger, Jr.

August 22, 1951 ~ January 28, 2025

Stanley “Mitchell” Holtsinger Jr. (better known as Mitch), beloved father, brother, uncle, papa, partner, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on August 22, 1951, in Lake City, FL, Mitch lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to his family.

Mitch graduated from Duncan U. Fletcher High School in 1969 and went on to own and operate a successful drywall business for over 25 years. Jacksonville Beach was his home, and he loved everything about this great beach town—from its vibrant community to the ocean he held so dear.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Britni Anna McCollum, who brought him great joy and pride, and her husband, Bryan McCollum. He will be deeply missed by his brother, Mark Holtsinger, and sister-in-law, Tina Holtsinger; his sister, Claire Holtsinger; his cherished nieces and nephews, Megan Moffitt, Ben Holtsinger, and Margot Audler; his bonus grandchildren, Ashlyn & Aleia Gilbert; and many dear friends and extended family members.

Mitch had a gift for bringing smiles to those around him. He always enjoyed a good laugh and had a knack for lighting up a room the moment he walked in. His quick wit and unforgettable jokes will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He was a big fan of Rodney Dangerfield and could always be counted on to share a joke, including two of his favorites:

"I looked up my family tree and found out I was the sap."
and
"I told my dentist my teeth are going yellow. He told me to wear a brown tie."

He was also deeply devoted to the Jacksonville Beach Volunteer Life Saving Corps, where he served with pride. His commitment to the Corps reflected his lifelong dedication to helping others, embodying the spirit of service and camaraderie that defined him. The friendships he built there lasted a lifetime, and his presence will be dearly missed among his fellow lifeguards.

He now joins his loving parents in heaven, along with his dear partner, Joni Gilbert. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on in the laughter, love, and memories he shared with those who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date by family to honor Mitch’s memory. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Jacksonville Beach Volunteer LifeSavings Corps (click here).

"In one of those stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night."
― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love and laughter he so freely shared.

Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Holtsinger family.
