Theodore Francis DiSalvo

May 21, 1963 ~ April 19, 2025

Theodore Francis DiSalvo, 61, of Middleburg Heights, Ohio, passed away on
April 19, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida.

Ted was born in Casper, Wyoming on May 21, 1963, to Jim and Sallie DiSalvo. He graduated
from Christian Brothers Academy in Albany, New York, and Slippery Rock University in Butler
County, Pennsylvania. Ted went on to a career where he could help others accomplish his life’s
passion for health, fitness and fun. This included positions as athletic director and regional
manager for one of the country’s top health clubs and then as Commissioner of Parks and
Recreation for the City of North Olmstead, Ohio.

The youngest of five siblings in a loud and rambunctious household, Ted – Teddy – Theo, was
dubbed by his father as the “king,” because he was the center of the jokes, laughter and craziness
of anywhere that was home to him. There are endless stories told by his family, Theta Chi
brothers, friends and colleagues. The fun and laughter started when Ted entered the room or
tailgate. He was the energy that motivated us all to be active and engaged with each other. Ted
was a passionate Penn State and Dodgers fan. A highlight of his life was twice attending the
Dodger’s Adult Baseball Camp.

His greatest joy and proudest accomplishment were being the father to the loves of his life: his
daughter, Tatiana, and son, Victor.

No one laughed like Ted, and no one loved like Ted. He was the kindest, sweetest, most
empathetic man – even when struck by the cruel disease of Frontotemporal Dementia.
Ted is survived by his children, Tatiana Elizabeth DiSalvo and Victor Philip DiSalvo; siblings
and siblings-in-law Pam and Gene Lepley, Phil and Kim DiSalvo, Joe and Leigh DiSalvo, Sue
and Mark Nyvold; numerous nieces and nephews (to whom he was the “favorite” uncle), and
several grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Sallie
DiSalvo.

The family would like to extend their eternal gratitude to Ted’s brother, Joe, and sister-in-law,
Leigh, who lovingly cared for Ted the past three years and managed his transition to heaven. The
family also would like to thank the Riverside United Methodist Church Outreach Ministry and
the kind and compassionate staffs at Brookdale Southpoint Assisted Living and Memory Care,
Ascension St. Vincent’s Southside Hospital, and the Morris Center for Caring Hospice – all in
Jacksonville, Florida.

In memory of Ted and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Joyful Voices Chorus in
Midlothian, Virginia – a community chorus for loved ones with dementia and their caregivers.

A celebration of life will be held for Ted in Cleveland at a later date.

  2. Bay and I first met Ted in Philly, at ARMY-navy game.  Enjoyed several more of those meetings plus a visit with us in Tennessee to watch the Viks end a bad streak against Florida.  A lot of laughter each time, but a lasting deep and human relationship as well.  RIP Ted.
