April 16, 2020

Virginia May (Eastwood) Peters, 78, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on April 16, 2020 at Baptist Medical Center Downtown, Jacksonville, FL.

Arrangements are being handled by Crevasse’s Simple Cremation of Jacksonville, FL.

Virginia was born in Bridgeport, CT to Walter D. and Madelyn A. (Casey) Eastwood on May 8, 1941. After graduating from Bassick High School, Fairfield, CT, she went on to waitress at the Howard Johnson’s on the newly developed Merritt Parkway. She married James Peters on September 16, 1961 in Fairfield, CT. Virginia became a stay-at-home mom to raise her 3 children and, when they became older, began watching other children for working parents. Later on, she worked at a day care facility and a pediatrician’s office in Monroe, CT until she retired to Florida to be near her children and grandchildren. Virginia was dedicated to her church, family and grandchildren with whom she spent a majority of her retirement years. She had a great sense of humor, love for her Savior, and she opened her door to anyone in need. To her children's friends, she was known as "Mom" and later on, her grandchildren and their friends called her "NoNo".

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Madelyn, and siblings Walter Eastwood of Easton, CT; Muriel Kiely of Huntington, CT; and Eugene Eastwood of Easton, CT.

Virginia is survived by her beloved husband, James of Jacksonville, FL; children Kenneth Peters and his wife, Robin, of Port St. Lucie, FL; Steven Peters and his wife, Melissa, of Bridgewater, MA; Sheryl Schuster of Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren, Kyle Peters, Kaitlynn Peters, Cody Pennington, Hannah Pennington, Cole Peters and Ella Peters.

  1. Ginny has such a sweet spirit about her, always smiling.  She had a heart for people and will be so missed by her family and church family.

  2. I can’t remember a time in my life without Aunt Ginny, my mom’s best friend.  I cherish a million memories of all varieties with the whole Peters family and I’m so thankful for them.  I send each of you bountiful hugs, love and prayers, which was what she gave us unconditionally and devotedly.  I love you all and wish I could be with you.  Much love, Deanna, Tony, Katie and Emily.

  3.  I will always remember the last time I saw you in front of Brooks rehabilitation. You had a delightful sense of humor and a wonderful laugh.

  4. Oh, the memories! The entire Peter's family was such an integral part of our childhood and our growing up, even into our adulthood. Thank you, Aunt Ginny, for being the best friend and confidant you were for my mother. I miss both of your high pitched cackles every time you two were together or on the phone with each other. Thank you for the biggest and best hugs I've EVER received. Uncle Jim, Ken, Steve & Sheryl, I am so sorry for your great loss but at ease knowing that some day… we will ALL be together again laughing it up once more.
Much love and hugs to all of you,
    Stephanie, Rick, Skyler & Brendan

  5. I'm deeply saddened and filled with joy at the same time in knowing that Ginny also known by me as "MA" Peters is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ the one that she tried to help me understand from a very young age. She was a very loving person to all of us even when we weren't deserving of it. Every time I try to put it into words and condense the many years that I was able to be a part of her life it just makes me thankful that God moved them right down the street from me so that I could be a part of her and their lives. This also made it possible for my children Aaron and Joanna to have someone to care for them like a grandma due to the loss of my mom.
Obviously there is no one or nothing that can replace her and the void that will be left – but this is temporary as those who are in Christ will meet again and our mourning will turn to joy!!

  6. We are very saddened to lose such a special Auntie. Gina truly filled us with love & laughter. The many cherished memories we hold in our hearts will remain forever kindled in our hearts.

Heaven has all the Eastwood sibling angels & gives this holy place a playful bunch.

Our deepest & sincerest sympathy to the Peters Family for your loss, Love
MaryLou ~ ML, Erika & Alex

                             To Mom
All that I have you gave to me.
All that I am I’m made of you.        You have molded me in the love of God
You have given me the life to go on
The strength I have, it came from you.
You taught me that God is the one.
I love you so dearly from the bottom of
             my heart.
My heart is filled with love that is just
              For you.
Toda I lost my best friend, but God
              gained an angel.
