Phipps, Wales Hudon “Don”

Don Phipps, age 76, passed away suddenly on June 4, 2019, at North Florida
Regional Hospital surrounded by his wife, Celia and family friends.
He was born in Jacksonville, FL, to the late Lu Alice and Don Phipps, Sr.
He was a graduate of Plant City High School and went on to earn his BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Florida.
As a young engineer, he worked for Boeing Launch Systems on the Saturn booster project
in New Orleans and with General Electric Aircraft Engine Group in Cincinnati, OH.
From there, our favorite rocket scientist returned to his Florida roots to become a double Gator
and earn an MBA in Finance. For the last forty years, he was a partner with Medical Dental Management in Gainesville with his brother-in-law, Roy Huntsman. Don had many things near and dear to his heart: the Audubon Society, the Florida State Museum, Sierra Club, his Florida Gators, sunsets at the beach and his friends and family
above all. He is survived by his wife, Celia of 49 years, daughter Meredith Nutter, son-in-law Rick
and his favorite bird watching buddy, granddaughter Brooklyn. Also, his niece April Bloomer
(Craig), nephew David Huntsman and great nephews Chance and McKay.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lu and Don, his sister Pat Huntsman and brother-in-law Roy.
