Walter Byron Gay, 79, of Tallahassee, Florida, went to meet his Lord and Savior on November 21, 2023 at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville, Florida. He passed away peacefully with his wife Anita and son Kevin by his side. Walter was born on September 17, 1944 in Gainesville, Florida to the late Bernard Gay and Iris Andrews Gay. He was preceded in death by his brothers James B. Gay, Claude W. Gay, John
Emil Gay, and Gregory Gay. He is survived by his wife Anita Jeffords Gay who he married on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1963. Additional survivors are his loving son Michael Kevin Gay and his wife Marcie and grandson Matthew Earl Gay. Upon graduation from Santa Fe High School in 1962, Walter entered the United States Marine Corps reserves where he served for several years. He started his lifelong career in the plumbing, well, and irrigation industry in 1963 with Hughes Supply (Gainesville, FL). He retired as a manufacturer’s sales representative with Marsh & Moore, Inc., in December 2010. He was an avid Florida Gator fan all of his life. For many years, he was a member of Gator Boosters. Over the years, Walter and Anita enjoyed traveling together. Their visit to the Canadian Rockies was their all-time favorite vacation which included seeing Lake Louise and walking on the Jasper Columbia glacier. Walter was a true people person. He always said that talking to people was his hobby. This
enabled him to be a natural born salesman. He was witty, caring, and generous, but most of all, he loved his family and close friends. Our hearts are devastated and we will truly miss him.
Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Gay family.

Aunt Anita, and Kevin
I can't imagine your pain and loss right now. Uncle Walter was one of a kind! I don't think I ever saw him without a smile on his face and his good heart showing through his eyes. Love and prayers fir all of you.
The Curls Family have you all in our prayers. Mr Gay was a great friend to Dad( Gene Curls) and our family . He will be missed .
My wife and I met Anita and Walter when they moved to Tallahassee. We rapidly became good friends and regularly took our wives to enjoy weekly dinner outings. As our friendship grew, we took vacation trips and shared many wonderful events together. Walter was so outgoing and personable- no doubt he had so many friends. He would help people whenever he could. Needless to say, he was and is my best friend! We miss being with him but will cherish our times together! He will always be remembered for the rest of our lives and never be forgotten!
Anita, So sorry to learn of Walters passing,
With Sincere Condolences,
Dee Williams Watson
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this journey. May God be your Peace and Comfort.
I graduated with Walter and remember him for his friendliness and smile- He truly was a “people person” and he was enjoyable to be around. God Bless Anita, Kevin and family
Mrs. Gay and Kevin, It's sad to hear about the passing of Mr. Gay. He stopped by our house almost weekly for so long to call on Dad to see if he needed any plumbing supplies (and drop off the "monkey" calendars for Wayne and me!). He was always smiling and had warmth about him that I remember well! He will be missed!
May God comfort and bless you during this difficult time.
Walter was a close friend of mine for many years. he was a wonderful person and his family will sure miss him
Ms. Anita and Kevin. I'm so sorry for Walter's passing. I have many memories of fun times with you all. He took me to my first Gator game with you and I've never forgotten that. Know that you are in my prayers.
Anita and Kevin. Growing up in LaCrosse, the Gay family had a very big chapter in my family’s story.
I have fond memories of of Walter and you, Anita, courting, marriage and your first home beside Santa Fe High School.
May your hearts be comforted with God’s peace.
Sure going to miss seeing him. Whether it was Walmart, Waffle House, or anywhere, Walter always found someone to talk to. Of course we had a lot in common to talk about, both of us graduating from Santa Fe and living in Tallahassee. He was such a great person.
Walter was a very special friend of mine. I hope he knew that. I think he did. Walter freely offered advise to me on any concern I had. Our times together were enjoyable and happy,
We talked about living as well as dying. Walter shared some of his experiences with me. Most times he would laugh about those experiences. I will certainly miss him.
Anita and family, you are my friends too. Please feel free to contact me any time.
