William Perkins

February 2, 2023

William 'Bill' Max Perkins of Jacksonville, FL 'crossed over the river of life' at the age of 75 following a brief illness.

He leaves a rich legacy of love and care to his devoted wife, Debra, sons, many friends and business associates.

Bill was born on February 3, 1947, to the late John F. Perkins and Glenna E. (Eble) Perkins in Evansville, IN. Along with his parents, three sisters and one brother, Bill spent his younger years in Evansville and through high school graduation from Memorial High School in 1965.

Following his graduation, Bill enlisted and served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970. He then attended Indiana State University and graduated in 1974. His successful career began with completing the Management Trainee Program of Ryder/P.I.E. Nationwide, Inc. During his tenure, Bill moved forward through promotion and transferred to Jacksonville as an Auditor and later promoted through the ranks to Manager Sales Administration.

His career progression also led to being employed by Frito-Lay, Inc., as Division Operations Manager in South Florida. He returned to Jacksonville in 1986 to start his own business, Green Earth Irrigation, which he successfully operated for 26 years. His territories extended to Jacksonville, the Beaches, Fernandina and St. Johns County.

One of his most compassionate endeavors was his installation of the irrigation system at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. He also worked closely with the Jacksonville Junior Achievement of North Florida - not only sharing his knowledge and expertise in business, but his incredible work ethic and positive attitude.

Bill won the love of his life, Debra Barrineau, and they were married on June 18, 1988, at Immaculate Catholic Church in Jacksonville. Through the years, Debra recalls Bill's outstanding characteristics, as well as their many happy memories created together. Bill will likewise be remembered by all for his unique personality, his sincere compassion, his incredible sense of humor and contagious laugh, along with his love for God, Country and Family. All who knew him will cherish special times shared together with this remarkable man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather to his family, as well as loved by his friends and associates.

Bill's memory will be cherished by his family. This especially includes his devoted wife, Debra; sons: Christopher M. (Tini) Perkins, Robert E. White, Jr. and Christiaan B. White; grandchildren: Amelie, Robert, Ryan, Brianna, Chance, Alex and Amaya; great grandchildren: Jayden, Jurnee, Jaeliegh, Joscelyn and Melani Ava; one brother: David Perkins of Evansville, IN; three sisters: Anne (Freddy) Ralston of Louisville, KY; Kathy (Tom) Kelly of Naples, FL; and Janice (Mark) Davis of Redondo Beach, CA, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

These memories are a reminder of a life well spent!   Remember his laughter in your heart, not tears in your eyes.

Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Perkins family.
