Robert Marion Gruber, 81, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026.
He is survived by his loving children, Cherie Gruber (Jerry), Michael Gruber (Jessica), and his stepdaughter, Michelle (Mike) Vannucci. He is also survived by his sisters, Tonja (Frank) Blankenship and Cheryl (Billy) Crick; his former spouse, Deborah (Eddy) Wallace; and his beloved grand-dog, Ziggy, affectionately known as “The Terror.”
Robert proudly served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1965, including two years stationed in Hawaii, where he especially enjoyed learning to surf.
He earned a Management Degree from the University of West Florida and went on to have a long and successful professional career. After 25 years with IBM, he finished his career with America Online (AOL) during the company’s early start-up days before retiring.
A private family gathering will be held to honor Robert’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local animal shelter of your choice in his memory.
