  18. Sorry to hear Col Hogan has died. He was so nice to me when I was a new young naive female 2LT. He took me under his wing and looked out for me. Another officer and I were his favorites to escort him out to the missile sites. I remember one time we were standing on the site and the sun was going down. The sky was bright orange red. He looked at me and said: I think the base has been hit by a bomb. He had me going for awhile until he started laughing. I was so gullible. He later told me he would tell that story to dignitaries when they visited the base. I never had any problems with him as my commander which I can't say about other officers. He was just a kind man and a great leader. Sorry my condolences are late.
