Austin Leslie Clayton was born on October 28, 1940, in Westmoreland, Jamaica. He lived a life marked by humility, love, devotion, family, and cherished memories shared with those who knew him best.
Austin was the beloved husband of Hyacinth, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage and 65 years of love and companionship. Their enduring bond was a beautiful example of love, commitment, and partnership.
Austin found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, and bowling, and he treasured the moments spent with family and friends. His presence, wisdom, humor, and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Austin was a career public servant, retired from the National Water Commission in Jamaica. He was a devoted father to five children: Charmaine Clayton, Jennifer Davy, Dawn Clayton, Solomon (Rodger) Clayton, and Annie (Rosey) Clayton. He was also loved by his son-in-law, Nigel Davy, and cherished by his seven grandchildren: Duane Duhaney, Kyle Davy, Brandon Clayton, Diane Duhaney, Ramon Clayton, Anthony Sellers, and Brianna Clayton.
Austin was a student of the Bible, having weekly Bible Studies with Jehovah’s Witnesses. He supported his wife’s spiritual goals and provided a welcoming atmosphere for her hospitality to the friends.
Austin firmly believed in the Bible’s teaching of the resurrection hope. We hold on to our solid hope for the future when Jehovah will relieve mankind of the sting of death. Until that promised time, his memory will remain close in our hearts. Austin’s legacy lives on through the lives of his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, and all who were blessed to know and love him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ena Brown.
“And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” — Revelation 21:4
