Barbara Joan Davis 

September 19, 1938 - July 19, 2024 

Barbara Joan Davis, was born in Philadelphia on September 19th, 1938 to William Bartram and Kathryn Emma Newbold. She was born just minutes after her twin sister Virginia, and they were the best of friends their whole lives. Sandwiched in between their older sister, Carol and their younger sisters, Suzanne and Lorraine, the twins had their own little world, always looking out for each other. Barbara grew up in Williston Park, Long Island New York. 

Barbara was a social butterfly from early on joining multiple activities and sports including the glee club, basketball and hockey. 

She met her first husband, Fred, while still in high school and was engaged soon after she graduated. She worked as a secretary for Sperry, on Long Island, before having her 3 boys, Freddy, Jimmy and Danny. She loved being a boy mom. She was not as fond of finding frogs, hamsters and snakes in odd places around the house. She kept the boys in line and was proud of the fact that they could not beat her in an arm-wrestling match until they were well into their teens. 

Barbara worked alongside her second husband, Bud, who she married in July of 1984 in their Christian bookstore on Long Island as well as in their sales company. Barbara and Bud moved to Williston Florida in 1993. Barbara’s effervescent personality was perfectly suited to meeting and befriending customers whether it was in the bookstore or on the road during their many trips to conferences and gospel concerts. Barbara would quickly draw people in with her trademark giggle and warmth. 

Barbara had a servant’s heart whether it was helping a friend in need or doing the dishes after Christmas dinner. 

Her superpower was gift giving and that superpower kicked into high gear when she became a grandmother. Lovingly nicknamed Hurricane Nana, she would arrive to any event, arms full of bags stuffed with gifts and mounds of tissue paper. But the greatest gift she gave her family was her unconditional love. She will be dearly missed and always remembered. 

Barbara is survived by her son Fredrick Metzger (Bonnie), son James Metzger (Kendra), son Daniel Metzger (Tracey), 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, sisters, Carol Wright, Suzanne Linkonis, Loraine Giattini and many nieces and nephews.
