In Loving Memory of Catherine Marie Alsmeyer
Catherine Marie Alsmeyer (Fabrizio) hereafter known as “Cathy”, 92, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on December 11, 1933, in Trenton, New Jersey, Cathy later made Gainesville, Florida, her home, where she touched countless lives with her kindness, generosity and creative spirit.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lloyd Glass and William Birt.
She is loving survived by her husband, William Alsmeyer; her children, John Lang, Jacalyn Leggett (Greg), Susan Shannon-Sapp, Joe Glass and Penny Bryan.
She was the proud and devoted Grandmother of Joseph, Curtis, Cathy, Chris, Linsey, Nathan, Sandra, Christopher, Joey, Jeffrey, Alex, Jared and Erica.
Cherished Great-Grandmother of Alana, Piper, Layla, Sophie, Carter, Caitlyn, Matthew, Madison, Cameron, Ali, Emilie, Kacie, Daniel, Kaelen, Hudson and Bryson.
Beloved Great-Great Grandmother of Cheyenne, Trent Michael and Eleanor.
A talented hairdresser by profession, Cathy possessed a gift for making people feel beautiful both inside and out. She was also an accomplished quilter, seamstress and crafter, whose hands created countless treasured creations that will be cherished by her family for generations. She was a proud member of the National Archery Association and The Quilters of Alachua County Guild.
Above all, Cathy’s greatest joy was being a “Mom”, “Grandmother”, Great & Great-Great Grandmother. Nothing brought her more joy and happiness than watching her family grow through five generations. Her home was always filled with love, and she celebrated every milestone, every visit and every moment spent with those she cherished most.
Those who knew Cathy will remember her gentle spirit, unwavering compassion, quiet strength, warm smile and generous heart. She lived a life centered on faith, family, kindness and service to others. Her love was unconditional, her wisdom comforting and her legacy immeasurable.
Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in knowing that her love lives on through the family she cherished, the traditions she created and the beautiful quilts and handmade treasures she lovingly crafted. Her memory will forever remain stitched into the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered love, prayers and support throughout Cathy’s journey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheiner’s Association in Catherine Alsmeyer’s Memory.
