Catherine Marie Borwegen, born November 22, 1935, in St. Peters Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, passed on Tuesday, July 14th, 2026 peacefully with family by her side at Timberidge Center for Rehabilitation & Healing, located in Ocala Florida.

She grew up on a small farm with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. John M. Sayben and her brother John Sayben Jr., in Edison, NJ, formerly known as Nixon, NJ. Besides living in NJ most of her life, Catherine also managed to call Kila Montana as well as, most recently, Dunnellon Florida, her home for almost ten years. After graduating from New Brunswick High School, she became employed by the National Bank of Metuchen, which after many name changes is now known as Wells Fargo Bank, first as a teller and at the end of her career she maintained, at the time, a new invention called the ATM machine!

A few years after graduating High School, she married Richard C. Borwegen, Sr. Together they built a new home on Murray St. in Edison, where they began their family, first welcoming their new baby girl Karen, and later, their son Rick. Years later, the couple divorced and Cathy remained in the same residence until she followed her son to big sky country in Montana, where she resided in her new home with a stream in her backyard while her front property was a beautiful grass field with mountains in the background. She shared this property with her much loved and slightly over fed companion, Peanut, who was an English Lab. Approximately ten years ago, she again followed her son, this time to Dunnellon, Florida.

She will be missed by her friends and loving Family, Her son Richard C. Borwegen, Jr. and his wife Bettina, and their sons Wilhelm Borwegen and Ricky Borwegen Ill and Daughter Rachel Jaworski and husband Andrew Jaworski and son August Jaworski, Cathy’s daughter Karen Gabriel Sofield and husband Bert Sofield, Karen’s sons Richard Gabriel and Kristen and his daughters McKenzie and Morgan, son Mathew Gabriel & Lee Ling Gabriel and their children Christian & Calvin, and son Michael Gabriel & fiancé Amanda and his sons Jake & Luke, her Former husband Richard C. Borwegen Sr. & wife Dee Borwegen and daughter Debbie Eisel & husband Chuck Eisel, former sister-in-law Joanne Borwegenand former sister-in-law Jeanie Borwegen. She is also survived By Nephews Michael Sawicki, Richard Sawicki & wife Connie Sawicki, Bill Borwegen & his wife Jane, John Sayben, James Sayben, nieces Debbie Artale & husband Eduardo, Dawn Daugherty Borwegen, Michele Hull, Patty Rosenfield, Diane Sayben, Donna Kravis Ann Marie Podgursky and second niece Stephanie Borwegen Nadler and second nephew Robbie Borwegen.
