David Wesley Eby

David Wesley “Dave” Eby, 81, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, at UF Shands Hospital.

Dave was born in South Bend, Indiana, to Richard and Sara Eby. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents; his son, John Wesley Eby; and his siblings, Thomas, Edwin, Daniel, Larry, and Sara Jo.

On August 8, 2006, Dave married the love of his life, Annie Pulvera Eby, in Cebu, Philippines. Together they shared a marriage filled with love, adventure, and cherished memories.

Dave lived a remarkable and adventurous life, embracing every opportunity that came his way. His career reflected his entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to take on new challenges. Over the years, he worked as a milkman, taxi driver, postal clerk, restaurant manager, shoe store manager, Realtor, insurance agency owner, mortgage and commodities broker, public insurance adjuster, and college instructor teaching insurance regulations. He was, above all, an entrepreneur who believed in hard work and lifelong learning.

Dave proudly served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Specialist Fourth Class (SP4/E-4). He remained active in his community throughout his life, serving as a member of the Kiwanis Club in South Florida and the American Legion.

A gifted performer, Dave had a lifelong love of theater, acting, and movies. He appeared in community theater productions in both Florida and Texas, delighting audiences with his enthusiasm and talent. He also loved reading, staying connected to modern culture, and, most of all, spending time with his family.

Among his many accomplishments, Dave was especially proud to have Rodeo Way in Davie, Florida, named in his honor—a lasting tribute to his contributions to the community.

Those who knew Dave will remember his wisdom, generosity, and remarkable ability to offer thoughtful advice whenever it was needed. Family and friends often sought his counsel, knowing he would listen with patience and respond with kindness, humor, and insight. He had a way of making people feel heard and encouraged.

Dave is survived by his devoted wife, Annie Pulvera Eby; his sons, Richard (Danette) Eby and Mark (Judy) Eby; his grandchildren, Aurora, Michael, Ty, Yorkary, Hailey, Hailee, and Allison; his great-grandchildren, Rylee, Wyatt, Giovanna, and Adalyn; his brother, Lynn (Esther) Eby; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Dave believed life was meant to be lived fully, and he certainly did. He embraced new experiences, treasured the people he loved, and never stopped finding joy in the journey.
