Dennis Shelton Jones, 67, of Alachua, Florida passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, where he was welcomed into Heaven and completely healed.
Born and raised in Alachua, Florida, Dennis lived a life rooted in hard work, love, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life. He spent more than 25 years living in Asheville, North Carolina, where he was a devoted member of Fletcher First Baptist Church. He built his career as a florist and was also gifted at growing flowers. He was especially talented and creative, with a unique ability to make flowers come alive in his designs and arrangements-something that brought joy to so many.
Dennis found happiness in fishing, tending to his flowers, and listening to gospel music. More than anything, he cherished time spent with his family. He was known for being a hardworking, generous, and caring man, who gave freely and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, Gina; his children, River (Monse), Canyon, and Sophia Jones; also, Justin and Colton, whom he loved deeply and carried in his heart throughout his life; his Grandson, Andrew; his Sister, Francine Lyon (Marshall); and Sister in Law Diann Jones.
Donations may also be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Dennis will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his kindness, laughter, resilience, and his love for Christ and for the love he shared with his family and friends. Dennis’s legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren.

I appreciated Dennis’ talents with the flowers and Christmas sets and decorations at Fletcher First Baptist. I particularly remember the scene of Heaven he came up with. Love and condolences to all his family. We still miss seeing you at Church.
I cherish so many wonderful memories from your family and my heart breaks for this. We will always love you all, his light will live on forever.
I want to express my heartfelt condolences to Gina, River, Canyon, Sophia, Monse and the entire family. There are no words sufficient to fill such a great void, but there is love, cherished memories, and the beautiful legacy Dennis left in each of your lives.
I am deeply grateful to Dennis and Gina for welcoming my daughter Monse with love, for opening the doors of their home to her, and for making her feel like part of their family from the very first day. As a father, that is something I will never forget and will always honor with all my heart.
I also want to thank Dennis for the incredible man he raised in River. Today I see in him the values, love for family, kindness, and strength that can only come from an exemplary father. It gives me peace knowing that my daughter shares her life with a man raised with so much love and strong principles.
To River, I want to say that we share in your pain and that a father’s love never disappears. It lives forever in the memories, the lessons, and in the hearts of his children.
To Canyon, Sophia, and the entire Jones family, I send a heartfelt embrace filled with love, strength, and prayers during these difficult times.
And to our little Andrew, I know that from heaven his grandfather will continue watching over him, guiding him, and surrounding him always with that eternal love that transcends this life.
Dennis left flowers in many gardens, but the most beautiful was the love he planted in his family and in everyone who had the blessing of knowing him.
I honor his memory, his kindness, his faith, and the great legacy he leaves on this earth. May he rest in peace.
With much love ! Eduardo Carmen, Edward, Frankie, and Jacob. We are keeping all of you in our hearts and prayers during this painful time.
And to my daughter Monse, may you always remember the love and kindness Dennis showed you. Carry those beautiful memories in your heart forever, and continue honoring his life through the love you share with River and the family.
