Elisabeth Ellen Moryan

Elisabeth “Ellen” Moryan, 66, of Ocala, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2026, in the Sarah Cannon TCT Center at, HCA North Florida Hospital in Gainesville, FL. 

Ellen was born in Pasay City in the Philippines to Gerardus W. and Marie Louise Beumer, both deceased. She and her three sisters grew up in the Philippines, the Netherlands, Australia, Colombia, and the United States of America. She is a 1978 graduate of Ewing High School in Trenton, NJ, and received her B.B.A. in Management and Marketing from the University of Miami (UM) in Coral Gables, FL in 1984. She was a member of Upsilon Delta chapter of the Chi Omega Fraternity and the UM Panhellenic Council. Ellen met her husband through her Chi Omega Fraternity sister at UM, Judi (Schwalje) Horvath, who was also from New Jersey. She married Alan Drew Moryan on October 22,1988, at St Francis Cathedral in Metuchen, NJ. He passed away at their home in Somerset, NJ on January 2, 2013.  

Upon graduating from UM, she began working and built her career with (North American) Philips Lighting in New Jersey, one of the world’s leading lighting firms and, at that time, a part of the Netherlands-based Philips Corporation. Her coursework in International Management and Marketing Research dovetailed nicely with her language abilities in Dutch and Spanish. She continued her training, education, and executive development over the years receiving Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM in 1993) from the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), completing courses in Collaborative Planning, Forecasting, and Replenishment in 2003, and Supply Chain Management in 2004. She served as a member of the Board of Directors of APICS Central Jersey Chapter from 1993 through 1997. Her efforts and Philips Lighting Company’s support of this educational society for resource management led to the company being presented as APICS Central Jersey Chapter’s Company of the Year Award in 2002. 

She retired (early) to Ocala, FL from Somerset, NJ in November 2018, because it’s inland and it was the place her husband had said was the only place in Florida they would retire. She “absolutely loved Ocala” and all the friends and neighbors she’d met there. She spent many years playing Mahjong, Samba, Bingo, and other games with her neighbors, and playing Tiki Solitaire on her phones with her numerous gaming friends. She was always competitive in her games and life—often vying to be the first or best at everything. During her last four weeks in the hospital, she was trying to be everyone’s favorite patient, and they were trying to be her favorite. She was also a frequent cruiser and enjoyed day trips, lunches, and outings with her friends and family. 

Ellen is survived by her father-in-law, Ernest Moryan of North Royalton, OH, sisters Marie Louise Escobar of Roswell, GA, Maryann Beumer-Siverson of Fleming Island, FL, and Irene Beumer of Ocala, FL, her brother- and sister-in-law, Christopher and Claire Moryan of North Royalton, OH, her godsons, Michael Escobar, Alexander Moryan, and William Horvath, her nieces (Nicole (Escobar) Pepdjonovic, Alexandra J. Beumer, Grace and Isabelle Moryan), nephews (Michael Escobar, Alexander and Nate Moryan), and her pets, Hannah, a 30-year-old African Grey Parrot she’s had since she and Alan adopted the baby from a breeder almost 31 years ago, and Ariel, an American Staffordshire Terrier mix she’d adopted two days before her diagnosis.
