Gerald Patrick Doyle

Gerald P. Doyle, age 94, went to be with the Lord on April 16, 2026. He passed away peacefully at his home in Gainesville, FL, surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife Irene A. (nee Diener) Doyle; his four children, Gerald P. Doyle (Christina Gomez) of Chicago, IL, Joseph M. Doyle (Blanca) of Miami, FL; Ireneanne Kittles (Danny Kittles) of Keystone Heights, FL; and Hope Guzman (Alex Guzman) of Gainesville, FL.

He was a loving “pop-pop” to Robert, Lauren, Joey, Ryan, Alex, Jerry, Jackson, Thomas, Grace, Sofia, and Lucas, and great-grandfather to Genevieve, Julian, and Henry. He also leaves behind a number of caring and devoted nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Anna Doyle, and his seven siblings: Grace, Margaret, Julia, Catherine, Thomas, Joseph, and Anna.

Gerald was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 2, 1932, and grew up in the Port Richmond neighborhood. He attended high school at St. Joseph’s Preparatory School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1951 – 1955, and was stationed in a variety of locations, most notably at a radar base in Greenland. In 1959, he earned a bachelor’s in business at St. Joseph’s University and enjoyed a career in the shipping and freight industry for over 30 years.

He cherished summers at the family condo in Wildwood, New Jersey.He was kind, compassionate, generous, and strong. He always demonstrated a deep sense of gratitude even in his final moments. These traits he bestowed on us are his cherished legacy. The greatest gift our father and grandfather gave every single day was that he loved and believed in us.

Gerald was a devout Catholic, and his faith was of utmost importance in his life. He was a member of various dioceses throughout his life including Our Lady of Calvary in Philadelphia, St. John Newman’s in Miami, FL, and St. Ann’s in Wildwood, NJ.
