In Loving Memory of Geraldine Whitney

Geraldine Whitney lived a life defined by strength, independence, resourcefulness, and a deep compassion for others.

On October 16, 2026, she stepped into the presence of our Lord and Savior, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and cherished memories.

She raised five children and built a life centered on family, hard work, and caring for others. She achieved her Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) qualification and dedicated her nursing career to caring for the elderly, a calling she truly loved. Caring for others was more than a profession to her; it was a reflection of who she was.

She was a strong and independent woman with a generous heart and a willingness to help anyone in need. She would give whatever she had to someone who needed it, even if it meant going without herself. Her compassion and generosity were defining parts of her character.

In the later years of her life, she faced the challenges of dementia. Although the disease changed many aspects of her life, it could never take away her sense of humor. That special part of her spirit remained with her, a reminder of the woman she had always been.

She was preceded in death by her parents; all her siblings; her beloved husband, George C. Whitney; and her sons, George Whitney Jr., Michael Whitney, and Mitchell Whitney.

She leaves behind her son, Darrell Whitney, and daughter-in-law, Charlene Whitney; her daughter, Mary Egstad, and son-in-law, John Egstad; many nieces and nephews; her cherished grandson, Ryan Smith, who spent many treasured hours with his grandmother; and many beloved grandchildren, Darrell Whitney, Michael Whitney, Robert Whitney, and Brenna Brown, plus many more not named here, along with many great-grandchildren who carry forward her family legacy.

Her life was one of perseverance, love, compassion, and generosity. Through her work as a nurse, she devoted herself to caring for others. Through her kindness, her generous spirit, and her love for our Lord and Savior, she touched lives in ways that will not be forgotten.

Though dementia marked the final years of her journey, it does not define the life she lived. She was a mother, a wife, a nurse, and a woman who gave freely of herself to others. Her story deserves to be remembered for the strength she showed, the laughter she shared, and the love she gave throughout her life.

She was loved so very much, and we will miss her presence here with us each and every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of life with immediate family will take place at a later date.

Crevasse’s Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Whitney family.
