Gloria A. Trimper

Gloria Ann Trimper died peacefully on September 13 at Ponte Vedra Gardens, an assisted living facility near Jacksonville, FL, where she was cared for during the past several weeks. She died of natural causes one month before her 92nd birthday. She previously lived happily with her only child Terry Trimper Jones and son-in-law Kevin Jones for six months.

Gloria was born October 12, 1928, in Niagara Falls, NY, to A. Marie (Hansler) and Charles Frederick Liebig. As a child she took dance lessons, played the clarinet and was a member of the Junior Civil Air Patrol. She graduated from Niagara Falls High School and studied at Niagara University where she learned to be a bookkeeper and later worked for Olsker Concrete Company.

Gloria married the late Frank Andrew Trimper in 1949 and with the help of relatives, they built their own home in the Town of Wheatfield near North Tonawanda, NY.

During her life, Gloria spent time as a Girl Scout Brownie troop leader, Starpoint Central High School band booster and taught Sunday School at the former Beach Ridge Free Methodist Church in Pendleton, NY. She and her husband enjoyed many rounds of golf together and Gloria won a number of first-place trophies in ladies golf leagues in Niagara and Erie counties during the 1970s.

Gloria was also an avid bridge player and was an officer for bridge clubs in and near Daytona Beach, FL, where she retired with her husband in the 1980s.

After her husband died in 1994, Gloria took up square dancing and she and her friend Marian Elliot, from Greer, SC, traveled to many places to dance. She also traveled extensively with friends and with her daughter.

In 2015 she moved to Jacksonville to be close to her daughter and son-in-law and she continued to play bridge with many friends at Camellia at Deerwood where she lived for more than four years.

Gloria also is survived by her brother Herbert Liebig (Jo) who lives in Marietta, OH. She has numerous nieces and nephews including her special niece April Liebig in Indianapolis, nephew Frank Lupejkis (Fran Blersch) in Leesburg, FL, and Charles Trimper (Ann) in The Villages, FL.
