James Craig West

James Craig West (Craig), age 64 of Callahan, FL, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020 surrounded by his family.
Craig was born on August 15, 1956, a son to the late James Everett and Beverly (Ireland) West Graham.
Craig was a graduate of Garden Grove High School and then enlisted into the United States Navy right out of High School. He became a Navy Seal from 1975-1985. He worked as an oil truck driver for Diversified Asphalt until his failing health in 2012.
On October 11th, 1974, Craig married the love of his life and best friend, Lisa Marie Phillips at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Garden Grove, CA. To this union there were two children born, Justin D West and Charity M. West.
Surviving Craig is his wife Lisa, one son, Justin D. West and his wife, Denise of San Marcos, TX, one daughter, Charity M. (West) Coker and her husband Cameron of Callahan, FL, six grandchildren; Caitlin, Braeden, Ethan, Madison, Ashley and Emelyn, three brothers; Chris West and his wife Julie of Frisco, TX, Keith West and his wife Tina of Fort Worth, TX, and Kyle Graham and his wife Kristin of Idaho.

Some of my memories: I met Craig when he started dating Lisa. He had a very nice blue truck which he worked very hard to purchase. He was crazy about Lisa from the start ( thought she was a Fox). He introduced me to his friend, we all went to the prom together. I remember how fine I thought he looked in his blue tux with a vest. From that time on always liked a man in a vest. I had the honor of being Lisa’s maid of honor at their wedding, then it was off to Tennessee for them, we tried to keep in touch through the years but not often enough. Days go by slow, years go by fast.
Love you Craig and Lisa.

Lisa, Justin, Charity and all of Craig’s family,
Jerry and I are very saddened to hear of Craig’s passing. Many years have passed since those years in Imperial Beach in 1975. We we’re neighbors in the same apartment building and our babies were just tiny then. We had the opportunity to spend time together while the husbands were training and deployed.
Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers today during this difficult and sad time. May God bless each of you and ease your pain.
James, we knew each other only during our time in ST-1 but the bond was made brother..LLTB. See you on the other side.

Lisa, Charity, Justin, and family: I am very sorry for your loss and saddened to hear about Craig's passing. I was class leader of Craig's BUD/S class. I have only good memories of our brief but intense time together. Craig's enthusiasm and determination contributed significantly to the many successes of class 84. May you find God's peace during this difficult time.
I feel like I lost my brother, Craig, 7 years ago when he had his strokes. I visited him every year over the past 7 years and it was with great sorrow to see him in the limited physical state he was in. His wife, Lisa, took good care of him and was by his side 24/7. Their daughter, Charity would host my wife and I when we visited in Florida.
As I ponder over the years of our relationship, we mostly talked about the Lord and shared our views of the Bible. We talked about politics and our families. Our families got together over the holidays when we lived near each other.
I was inspired by Craig’s strong determination in life. He was at the top of his class in the Seal Team 6. He did well in high school sports, baseball and football.
I know my brother is in heaven at peace with the Lord, walking in a new body. I miss him.
