James Russell Hewitt, 70, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away June 8, 2018 in Jacksonville. He was born October 14, 1947 in Albany, New York, son of the late Frank and Ann Hewitt. Crevasse's Simple Cremation of Jacksonville is honored to be serving the Hewitt family.

It was an honor knowing Jim and being in Sunday School and Church with him. He will surely be missed.
Jim was a good friend of mine for over 24 years. He had a gravely voice and a sharp, sarcastic and witty sense of humor with a heart of gold underneath. Although he endured many trials and tribulations, he always made time to help others. He would give the shirt off his back to someone who needed it, even if it was the only shirt he had. Throughout his career he helped hundreds, if not thousands of homeless people and always had compassion for the less fortunate. He was a gifted storyteller and listener, who provided wise counsel. I will truly miss him, and the world will too.
