Janet Ann Patterson Walker of Gainesville passed away May 30, 2018. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 26, 1944. She grew up in Greenwood, Indiana.
She married Michael Walker, Jr. of Lafayette, Indiana in 1963. They moved to Gainesville in 1967, after living in Ocala, Ft. Myers, Tallahassee, and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Janet was employed for 34 years with Davis Cadillac Chevrolet as a Controller/Office Manager. Through her position there and the bond that was made, she made the dealership more like family.
She was very involved with her church. She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church until the fire in 1991. She then changed membership to St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church (Newberry) where she was totally devoted to various ministries. She was a graduate of Education for Ministry; was President of The Episcopal Church Women, Diocesan Ministries, Diocese of Florida for 3 years; and received the prestigious Bishop’s Cross Award from The Right Reverend Samuel Johnson Howard in 2015. She and her husband held various prayer groups in their home over the years.
She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Alice Patterson and her sister Jean Sutton of Greenwood, Indiana; her niece Debbie Prine of Whiteland, Indiana; grandson Benjamin Lancaster and son-in-law Wes Lancaster of Gainesville, Florida.
She is survived by her husband Michael of 55 plus years; her daughters, Alysa Walker Lancaster, Gainesville; Madeline Walker Bullock (David), Tallahassee; and Kara Walker White (Cliff), Gainesville; also 4 grandchildren, Brandon Maple (Rachael) Hiram, Georgia; Jase Lancaster, Taylor White and Samantha White all of Gainesville; 2 great-grand children, Liam and Scarlett Maple; her sisters, Joyce Dinkel, Denver, Colorado, Julie Bolinger (Sam), Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and brother James “Jim” Patterson, Greenwood, Indiana; and her numerous nieces and nephews. The family will hold a memorial service, please contact the family or St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church for details.
Cremation services for Janet are being arranged by Crevasse’s Simple Cremation. Janet’s ashes will be placed in the St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church Cremains Garden on a future date.

We were so sorry to hear Jan passed away this morning. She was such a kind lady and we enjoyed her presence at the Christmas parties each year. Mike, we will be praying you and your family.

Mike and Family, Jan was one of the dearest people I ever met. She was always so generous with her time and talents. John and I will keep all of you in our prayers. May love and God’s comfort surround and embrace you.
We are sad for the lose of such a wonderful person, whom we loved. I know y’all are missing her!!But we are rejoicing for Jan because we know she’s with The Father! We have so many good memories with her and Mike!
She was a wonderful woman. Will be missed.
