In Loving Memory of Janet Namen Rufolo
Janet Namen Rufolo, beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Ocala, Florida, on Monday, August 31, 2026. She was born on February 3, 1955, in Lexington, Kentucky.
Janet spent many years working alongside prominent oral surgeons in Ocala, including Dr. Dunn and Dr. Nixon. She was a dedicated and valued employee who took pride in her work and the relationships she built throughout her career.
One of Janet’s greatest passions was horses. She loved riding and was a successful competitor in mounted shooting competitions, combining her love of horses with her adventurous and determined spirit. Her love for animals extended far beyond horses, and she had a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Daizie Mae, who was a cherished companion and brought her great joy.
Janet was also a woman of faith and a member of Living Water Wesleyan Church in Dunnellon, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Rufolo; sister, Margie Harward; sister-in-law Joan (Richard) Lambertson; and brother-in-law Louis Rufolo.
She is survived by her brother Fran (Martha) Kennon; nephew, Coby Harward; niece, Loretta (Wayne) Carson; stepchildren Loriann (Ron) Reed, Anthony (Pamela) Rufolo, and John Rufolo; brother-in-law Vincent Rufolo; her step-grandchildren; and many other nieces and nephews who will cherish the memories they made with her.
Janet will be remembered for her love of animals, her passion for horses, her competitive spirit, and most of all, the love she gave to her family and friends. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the lives she touched will remain forever. May she rest peacefully, reunited with those she loved who went before her, and forever riding free.
Flowers can be sent to the church or donations be made in Janet’s memory to the Humane Society of Marion County or Empath Hospice of Marion County.
