Kevin “Kev” R. Courage
September 4, 1966 – May 14, 2026
Kevin “Kev” R. Courage, lovingly known as Kev, passed away in Gainesville, Florida, at the age of 59.
Kev lived a full and meaningful life filled with family, friends, work, animals, music, community service, and the simple things he loved most. He was known for his kind heart, friendly nature, and compassionate spirit. He had a deep love for dogs, especially JJ, JP, and Piper, his labradoodle. He also enjoyed the outdoors, spending time at the beach, good food, camping, and cheering for the Gators.
Kev was born in Salem, Massachusetts, and also lived in San Diego before eventually settling in Gainesville, Florida. Over the years, he worked as a home health aide, where his caring nature and compassion for others were evident in the work he did. He later worked for the City of Gainesville Parks Department and the MLK Center, where he was known as hardworking, reliable, and dedicated. Throughout his life, he also volunteered with many community organizations, generously giving his time and energy to help others and support the people around him.
He is survived by his siblings, Bruce Courage Jr., Cristin Courage-Ellis, Ian Courage, and his twin brother, Erich Courage; as well as his nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family, and many friends who loved him.
Kev will be remembered for his warmth, loyalty, caring heart, and the kindness he showed to both people and animals. He leaves behind memories of friendship, laughter, service, and love.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kevin’s name to the local Humane Society.
Per Kevin’s wishes, he will be cremated, and his ashes will be scattered in New England on the North Shore. There will be no local service.
