Larry Lane Newton

Larry Lane Newton passed away September 17, 2026. He was born in Clay City, Indiana on December 19,1967, and moved to Gainesville, Florida with his daughter in June of 2026.

Larry spent most of his working years in factories or as a truck driver hauling campers across the United States. The latter would take him to almost all fifty states, out west being among his favorite places to visit. When hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, he along with his wife at the time drove campers to New Orleans and other southern states to aid in efforts to house and shelter survivors.

Larry had a deep love for animals and was an avid horseman. Many summers were spent in state parks trail riding and long weekends camping with his wife and kids. Larry loved to ride and horses were a large portion of his life. He and his family spent efforts rescuing horses and exotic animals including but not limited to; rabbits, raccoons, squirrels, geese, and other small animals.

Larry was a kind and generous person with a wicked sense of humor. He could make a friend anywhere and always knew how to make anyone laugh. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, even to strangers.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents Vernice L. Newton and Norma L. Newton.

He is survived by his previous wife Freda Bicknell and all his children; Heather Stultz (Neal stultz), Dante Crouse, Elizabeth Shepherd (Clovis shepherd), Lacey Newton-Russell (James Russell) and six grandchildren.

  1. There so many memories of Dad I’m not sure where to begin. But here it goes he was a great man . Love to travel across America especially when pulling campers he was able to travel a lot it was one of many things he enjoyed doing and he was the first one to step up and pull a camper when hurricane Katrina hit . The man would’ve given his shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. He loved to tell dirty jokes and everytime he get to the punch line he laughed so hard his whole body would shake because he laughed with his whole self without holding back. But there were times when things was serious and if you didn’t listen he would definitely let you know about it. I remember when he bought my first truck a little orange Toyota pickup I was so ecstatic same day I got he took me out in the back field to test drive it and I was so overwhelmed that I began hyperventilating and instead of him getting impatient and upset he was calm, collected told me when ever I’m ready put her in first gear . I told him I was terrified and I felt like the walls was closing in he rolled down the window and told me to take a few deep breaths and to go when I’m ready what if I wreck it . He told me if that happens we are in the back pasture worst thing is it gets stuck or we hit a tree that day I did great with his help I was able to get it into 2nd gear around the pastures. He was very helpful in more than one way that day he helped me regulate my emotions and thought me how to drive a Toyota pickup in an pearliscent orange with a manual transmission. He knew a lot about trucks and knew how to take one apart to put in a new timing chain in and rebuilt it back together him and a family friend was in that shop for hours but it ran like a dream after that. He taught a bit about taking care of vehicles amongst other things like survival skills like how to start a fire at camp, how to set up a tent, how to saddle a horse the proper way without getting hurt or hurting the horse .what riens to use he hates splits riens because you could get caught in them trying to get down from the horse and which bit to use for each horse because even horses have a preferred bit set . How to properly place my feet in the stirrups so that way my boot doesn’t get stuck. He taught me what it’s like to be honest, kind and through his actions how to be respectful and responsible even when this man wasn’t my bio dad but he didn’t care he still loved every one of us kids because in his eyes we was all his kids regardless what others thought .He was proof that love has no bounds . I could go on about our dad because I have endless stories about the man who helped shape me and my siblings into a decent individuals.
I feel bad for the people who didn’t get to know you because they missed out on such a wonderful parent and good man .
People who have known you or do know you will definitely miss you because you definitely left a mark on this world and our hearts . I love you dad .
